JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

 

Synopsis

​​

Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach is now a musical for the whole family to enjoy! Featuring a wickedly tuneful score by the Tony Award-nominated team of Pasek and Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman, Dogfight, A Christmas Story the Musical) and a curiously quirky book by Timothy Allen McDonald (Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley), critics rave: James and the Giant Peach is a "masterpeach!"

When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach... and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach, among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities, but after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building.

Audition Dates:
MONDAY, APRIL 14, 2025 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm (STAR Rep Theatre-329 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido)

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2025 from 5:30 to 8 :30pm (STAR Rep Theatre)

Callback Date: SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2025 from 12 to 5 pm (STAR Rep Theatre)

Production Fee: $325 TUITION FEE FOR NEW STAR MEMBERS; $300 FOR NON STAR MEMBERS; AND $275 FOR STAR MEMBERS.  Payable at Audition (or you will not be able to audition/be cast in the show): Check, Cash, Visa, MasterCard and PayPal accepted at audition.

* Your non-refundable tuition is due at the time of your audition, or your audition with not be permitted. (If you are not cast in the show, your mandatory tuition will be refunded to you.  If you drop because you do not like the role you were given, your mandatory tuition will not be refunded, but will be credited towards another STAR Rep production). Partial scholarships maybe available, but forms must be submitted a month (30 days) before auditions.  Only a few will be given to needed families.

 

* Wear comfortable clothes and shoes to dance in, and bring something to do and eat/drink at callbacks, as you can expect to sit around for long periods of time without being called. 

Production Fee Includes:  Approximately 150 hours of professional instruction (acting, choreography, vocal, music, etc.), costumes, make up, our gorgeous performance venue, and professional class instruction throughout the course of the production. If you become a STAR Rep member, you will save off the next year of shows (see below for details)! 

 

Ticket Requirements:  Each family will be required to purchase 15 tickets per our JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH Show Contract. 

 

WE WILL WORK WITH ALL REHEARSAL CONFLICTS UP UNTIL

2 WEEKS BEFORE TECH WEEK!!

(Everyone must attend ALL rehearsals 2 weeks prior to Tech Week) !! 

 
Scholarships/Sponsorships: There are need-based partial scholarships, and payment plans available. Only a few partial scholarships are available per STAR Rep production. STAR Rep students must apply for a partial scholarship one month (30 days) prior to their audition in order to be considered. 

Membership Special:  If you become a STAR Rep member, you will save $50 off our next show!  In order to become a STAR Rep member, your audition fee/tuition for this show will be $325. Then your tuition for our next show will only be $275!  You will be saving $50 on tuition, and $25 off the membership fee, giving a total savings of $75!  You will also receive a FREE STAR Repertory Theatre car decal if you become a STAR Rep member!! Membership must be renewed every year.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals start Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Rehearsals will be T/TH (5 to 9 pm) and SAT (12 to 4 pm). 

 

Tech/Show Dates:  JUNE 27 - JULY 6, 2025, STAR Repertory Theatre, Escondido CA (Production week starts June 23, 2025). 2 Weeks prior to Tech Week (except for holidays), Production/Tech Week, and Performances are MANDATORY...or you risk loosing your role!!)
